Lagos

Lagos Portugal

Lagos is located 17 kilometers west of Portimao, on Portugal's so south west coast. A 17th century castle and tumbledown walls guard the harbor mouth, around which the resort is built.

To the north are gently sloping hills and pretty villages. Lagos itself is an exciting mix of old and new Portugal - it has the classic flower decked squares and whitewashed buildings, and a glorious new marina. The little town beach is often uncrowded; there's always breathing space at Meia Praia, to the east. Shopping in Lagos is very good, with tourist shops, boutiques and an unbelievable monthly market.
