Situated at the centre of the Costa Brava, compact Tossa de Mar is a peaceful alternative to its busier, larger neighbours on the Costa Brava. It retains some of its original character in its narrow, twisting streets and stone houses. This resort is popular with families looking for a relaxing holiday.

The excellent fine-shingle, beach is very popular. Families potter along the shore and parasols line up neatly above the gentle waves. Water sports and boat trips are available.

Nightlife is quite low-key but there are a number of music bars and discos, and plenty of waterside cafes, where you can enjoy the views and relax over a beer.
