The Costa de la Luz is Spain's most southwesterly coast, stretching from the Portuguese border to the Straits of Gibraltar. The 'Coast of Light' is where the commotion of the other, more popular Spanish 'costas' is left behind and the natural beauty of Spain can be found for all to enjoy.

Facing out into the Atlantic Ocean, along Costa de la Luz, you will find some of the most unbelievable beaches in Spain, with finer whiter sands than their Mediterranean counterparts. Stretching nearly the entire shoreline, the beaches are characteristically fringed by pine trees and sand dunes creating a rugged, natural landscape.

This part of coast has seen comparatively little development with tourism consisting of a few small, modern resorts spaced along the Costa de la Luz shoreline. Life in the Costa de la Luz is all about taking your time and taking in the dramatic surroundings. Filled bars and heaving dance floors are things you will find difficult to locate as evening activity consists of a relaxed meal followed by a gentle walk along the coast.

By choosing Isla Canela or,Islantilla, to the west of the shoreline, you'll have a great place from which to discover the home province of Huelva, with its relaxed white-washed villages, or to travel further into the center of Andalucia - a trip to Seville being an total must while in the Costa de la Luz!

The city of Huelvain, Costa de la Luz offers modern architecture and fashionable shops, so it's easy to forget that this is one of the oldest cities in Spain from which Christopher Columbus set sail on his voyage of discovery over 500 years ago.

With nature playing a key role in this corner of Spain, the Donana National Park, further along the coast, boasts a wealth of flora and fauna, making it one of the largest and most interesting bird and wildlife sanctuaries in Europe let alone the Costa de la Luz.

The breeze rolling in off the Atlantic creates ideal conditions for a variety of waters ports with windsurfing and surfing attracting fanatics from all over the world.
