The little island of Isla Canela is located at the mouth of the Guadiana River which divides Spain from Portugal. Connected by an undersized bridge to the mainland, it is a up to date, purpose built resort intended to offer all the amenities you would need for a great beach holiday in the sun. The resort has its own 18 hole golf course formed from sand dunes.

The golden sands stretch for almost seven kilometers around the resort, so if you're looking for peace and quiet, you should have no problem finding your own private spot of beach. The nearby fishing village of Ayamonte is an enjoyable place to enjoy an evening meal, followed by a stroll along the palm lined harbor. If you stay in Isla Canela you fly into Faro (Portugal). Therefore, if you are a non-EU passport holder, Portuguese and Spanish visa requirements will apply.
