Costa Dorada

Costa Dorada Holiday

Costa Dorada has magnificent beaches of golden sand that stretch for over 200 kilometers from the south of Barcelona province to the river Ebre Delta - it'll come as no shock that the name means the 'golden coast'.

Wide curves of soft sands defer gently into warm Mediterranean waters, making this the perfect option for beach fanatics. Whether you want to do nothing more tiring than flick over the pages of a magazine or benefit from the water sports on offer through July to August, you'll be happy. And. if working on your tan builds you up an appetite you'll find more than enough cafes and bars nearby to refresh you with snacks and cold drinks during the day. The safe, shallow waters and miles of sand found in Salou and Cambrils are the ideal playground for children. Bathers in La Pineda however need to be aware of the under currents and keep an eye on the flag warning system on the beaches.

The long palm-lined walkway that curves around the bay at Salou has of late been enhanced, and is now ornamented with fountains and colorful flowers to make those gentle early evening walks even more enjoyable. Try some of the local Catalan dishes and seafood, although if you would like something more recognizable you'll be spoilt for choice with everything from fast food and pizzas and to Chinese restaurants. Nightlife is welcoming and casual, with lively discos and clubs that maintain the pace until the early hours. Head to Sitges (Costa del Garraf), if you're wanting something a bit quieter and stylish. If it's the genuine Spanish atmosphere you're looking for try Cambrils, where you can rest on the quays side and watch the colorful fishing boats head out to sea. For an memorable day out, don't miss Universal Studios Port Aventura, Spain's number one theme park, with over 30 rides, including the Dragon Khan, the eight-loop roller coaster! Barcelona too has to be seen. Whether your interest is sightseeing or shopping, you'll be pleased you went, although you should try the tax-free Andorra for some really serious shoppers. so why not visit Costa Dorada.
