Tucked in the western corner of the Costa Dorada 25km south of Tarragona, Cambrils is an attractive Catalan town with a sandy beach. Away from the beach, the lanes around the old quarter are lined with enticing shops. Its restaurants often present live music and dancing, including customary, flamboyant flamenco. Come in July or August if you want to sample a colorful local fiesta. Nearby Universal's Port Aventura theme park is great fun for all ages.

Cambrils is a peaceful alternative to its busier neighbor, Salou, which boasts a large assortment of British-style pubs and nightclubs.
