Croatia TravelCroatia HolidayCroatia has all the benefits of a warm climate, a beautiful coastline and welcoming resorts. The Croatia coastline is laced with secluded bays and small coves lapped by astonishingly clear waters which are perfect for swimming and snorkeling. If you don't like to get sand in your suntan oil, you'll appreciate the smooth rocks and bathing platforms that you'll find on many of the beaches. It would be easy to spend your entire holiday relaxing in the many pavement cafes and bars, but don't miss out on finding out about the culture and history of Croatia. There's plenty of evidence of Roman occupation and Italian influence - from the magnificent amphitheatre at Pula to the Venetian-style Renaissance buildings that line the streets of Rovinj. At Porec, modern tourist facilities blend comfortably with Roman remains, medieval towers and the glorious 6th-century basilica of St Euphrasius. On the picturesque Dalmatian Coast, the coastline is dotted with small villages and islands, and then of course there is Dubrovnik itself. The architecture of the old walled city will fascinate you, and many an afternoon can be spent wandering around the narrow cobbled streets which hide thriving markets and cafes. Cavtat, Mlini and Plat are examples of the pretty villages dotted along the coast and are perfect for a quieter setting and a chance to experience the traditional Croatia's traditional charm. For a real relaxing retreat Lopud Island, just a short boat trip away from Dubrovnik has all the offerings of a Mediterranean paradise. Much of the nightlife in Rovinj centres around the hotels while Porec is more lively with a good choice of bars and clubs. Your evenings can also be spent over leisurely meals enjoying mouth-watering local specialties all washed down with a bottle of excellent local wine. Inland the countryside, with its rolling hills, meadows and oak and pine forests, is perfect for exploring by bicycle or on foot helping to make Croatia even more beautiful. |
