Luxor is located 675km south of Cairo on the east bank of the majestic River Nile. It lies on completely flat land. with glorious views towards the west bank and it's flood plains. The focal, point is Luxor Temple with its incredible statues. shrines and two splendid obelisks. There are several excellent museums housing mummified exhibits and objects from Tutankhamun's tomb.

Luxor is famous for its stunning antiquity. If you need to cool off after a day exploring - all the hotels and boats have swimming pools or plunge pools.

You don't really come here for the shopping, however with such an abundance of historical sights to see the souvenir market is awash with trinkets to take home from Luxor. You could also visit the bazaar
