El Gouna

Red Sea Riviera

Nestled alluringly at the edge of a desert of rich, red sand, the new resort of El Gouna is built on a series of islands encompassed by azure-colored lagoons. Soak up the sun on the sandy beaches, home to a variety of water sports as well as a number of diving centers. There is little in the way of shopping here. The small shopping arcade has been built in the style of a traditional oriental market and features some cafes, boutiques, and souvenir and jewelry shops. Take a trip to into Hurghada for a day of souvenir and bargain hunting. The bazaar is a great place to haggle with the locals. There's plenty to do in the evenings in the way of dining out in Kafr El Gouna. The variety of cuisine on offer in El Gouna spans traditional Egyptian fare to Italian, Chinese, French, German, Mexican and Lebanese dishes. Away from the coast, you can tee off at El Gouna's 18-hole golf course.
