Crete is home to vibrant & cosmopolitan, Hersonissos this town clusters around a pretty harbor; framed by bars, tavernas & restaurants. A few kilo meters along the coast are the seemingly endless pale sands of Malia - a lively resort with nightlife to suit all tastes. Elounda has a sandy man-made beach & is famous for its luxury hotels & bustling fishing harbor. Around the bay is popular, fashionable Aghios Nikolaos, which retains much of its original charm around a busy harbor. If it's peace & tranquility you're after, head for neighboring Kalo Chorio with its three sandy beaches & lovely views or, on the north-west coast, relaxing Platanias or Maleme. Crete's third largest town, Rethymnon, combines an atmospheric old town with a marvelous beach.
