The modern resort of Costa Teguise, 5 kilometres northeast from the capital Arrecife, is a favourite haven for those holiday makers who enjoy sports watersports. Appropriately it's also home to the island's only water park. However if all you want to do is relax in the sunshine, Las Cucharas beach will serve you nicely. It is a large crescent shaped bay with fine clear waters for swimming. The north of Lanzarote is home to stunning natural sights including the Cueva de los Verdes, a series of remarkable subterranean volcanic caves, rock formations and tunnels and the famous Fire Mountains home to an array of volcanoes, lava fields and swirling terrain. Why not take a camel ride up the slopes or even have a BBQ meal cooked over the mouth of a volcano!
