Playa Blanca sits on the southern coast of Lanzarote. It is a tranquil spot centred around a small fishing harbour although the resort is gradually developing. Playa Blanca is the smallest of Lanzarote's main resorts. Ferries operate between the harbour and the neighbouring island of Fuerteventura, famous for its beaches and sand dunes. You can take a relaxing stroll along the pretty seafront promenade which plays host to restaurants and bars. Playa Blanca has a traditional, low-key feel about it and nightlife is quite subdued. Try one of the tempting seafront fish restaurants and sample the catch of the day. Evening entertainment is mainly hotel-based with many staging live music and shows, although there are a couple of music bars in the main resort. Not far from Playa Blanca is the secluded Papagayo beach, eight kms away over a fairly rugged road.
