Ibiza

Ibiza Spain

Ibiza may be little but it has a huge character! The nightlife is renowned and there's a lot more to Ibiza than just the discos and clubs that focus around the famous San Antonio.

The capital, Ibiza Town, has, for a long time, been popular for its manner which beckons the rich and famous, and during the 1960's it was the hippies who were obsessed with Ibiza. Invoke the spirit of those sixties flower power times at the hippy market on a Wednesday in Es Cana. You can even treat yourself to a kaftan and beads as well as the more traditional Spanish gifts such as leather goods or pottery. You'll not be disappointed if your preference is sophistication and high fashion - Ibiza is home to some principally stylish shopping areas. An island bordered by superb beaches guarantees you'll have many options when it comes to chilling out.

If you want uninterrupted sun-bathing, locate one of the dozens of tiny coves and secluded bays. If you're after something a little livelier, make your way to the major resorts where most water sports are on offer on the bigger beaches in the main holiday season. The amazing sandy coves to the north are especially beautiful, with incredible snorkeling at Portinatx. Playa d'en Bossa to the south has the longest soft sandy beach on the island and is perfect for families. If you'd prefer to get down all night long, the clubs of San Antonio keep going until first light (and occasionally later!) This is the destination to meet up with like-minded party goers from Northern Europe. But as you would expect, Ibiza's additional resorts have more than enough going on going on late into the night, ranging from cafes and informal bars to trendy restaurants. Whether you're looking for traditional local cuisine or tried and tested international menus, it's all there - and what could be more fun than having dinner at the quayside, people looking on as you have your meal?

Ibiza has sophistication, style and a few of the finest beaches in all the Balearics. It's a fantastic mixture for younger holiday makers and groups and caters for families as well.
