Port el Kantaoui

Sousse

The strategically sited old port of Sousse has seen a modern resort grow around its historic heart: the walled medina, an 8th-century fortified monastery, and the 9th-century Great Mosque. Sousse is a bustling, colourful town with a strong Muslim tradition, which means you'll find just a few bars but plenty of cafes, shops and stalls! Port el Kantaoui is Tunisia's answer to the chic marinas found along the Spanish coast. Even the countryside has a deliciously Mediterranean feel to it. As well as drawing the yachting crowd, this purpose-built resort offers a wonderfully relaxing (and affordable) holiday for those who are more at home on dry land - say on an excellent sandy beach, with a full range of watersports. Kantaoui's two 18-hole golf courses are close by and there's tennis too.
