Turkey

Turkey is where east meets west, the beaches are fabulous, the sea is the deepest blue and the culture is just as colorful. The coastline is spectacular and you can choose between the splendid beach and translucent waters of the lagoon at Olu Deniz, or the sandy beaches of Altinkum perfect for watersports. If windsurfing seems a bit energetic, you can always opt for the more Janguid pleasures of a pedalo. Scuba-diving is another option and even complete beginners can find diving schools happy to show them Turkey's underwater treasures.

Try and find time for a trip to Dalyan Beach which is a breeding ground for the famous loggerhead turtles.

Of course, there's much more to Turkey than just its beaches and it would be a shame to leave without experiencing at least some of the rich history. Ephesus, just north of Altinkum, dates back 2,000 years and the ruins of this ancient city are simply breathtaking. A trip to Pamukkale is a must, spectacular terraced pools of glittering white crystal and warm spring waters offer a unique photographic opportunity. And the harbour in Bodrum makes a perfect setting to watch the sun set behind the old castle.

Resorts in Turkey really do have something for everyone bars and pavement cafes, traditional music and belly dancing. Dine at harbour-front restaurants on freshly grilled meats and seafood, sweet pastries and Turkish delight. Shopaholics will love Turkey with souvenir shops and boutiques as well as bustling bazaars and markets. Enjoy haggling for everything from leather goods and jewelry to traditional woven carpets.

Each resort has a blend of attractions - from glorious beaches and warm, clear waters to colourful bazaars and easy access to historical treasures. This combination of sun and sightseeing - and a genuinely warm welcome - makes Turkey a great place to visit!
